How do you view this? Recently Tamil Nadu Government banned sale of Potassium?
Nitrate, which is an important fertilizer for the growth of herbals and green leaves (Keerais in Tamil) as the chemical is being used by anti-social elements for preparing hand bombs, country grenades etc.
Because of this ban, the famous "sidhdha" medicinal doctors as well as 'herbal' growers of Tamil Nadu are greatly affected.
But even after various efforts by these sidhdha herbal medicine manufacturer's efforts to pursue the Government to lift the ban at least for them by granting them a 'special permission' to use the Potassium Nitrate fertilizer, their plea is like fallen in deaf ears.
How you view this adament nature of the Govt?
Bull, I understand your concern and I would still stay with Govt ban on KNO3! If neighboring states don't have such bans they can get it from them. Alternate method is to use draining of decomposing organic material (Dung heaps). and ashes for potassium supplement.
My friends uncle used to work in Chennai corporation sewage treatment plant, where sewage trucks dump the filthy waste and they used to pump some of the water to nearby by empty lot (50ft x 50ft)inside the campus where they grew 3 varieties of spinach plants (siru keerai, molai keerai and parupu keerai) in that lot and made some extra perks by selling it to the local market.
More soil/mud from corporation construction can also be used to fill in the vacant pits to make more natural fertilizing soil. We used to go that treatment plant and get 2 sacks of enriched soil for our garden every quarter and spread it around Jasmine, Rose, Sampangi and few other plant beds.
They all cherished very well without any problem, probably others should consider this option. Only thing they need his mask, gloves and transportation for the decomposing soil. Nature will do the rest.
First option: Govt should make use of prisoners help (nan nadathai ulla kaidigal), they can probably do this enrichment in a fenced corner of the jail. They can cultivate their own vegatables too!
Other option is to pickup beggars and roadside romeos from the street and make them do this at Govt expense (just give them meals and tea).
