How can I make fake blood that washes out of clothing? Any online guides out there?

Hi,
I need to make fake blood that is realistic as possible (and possibly a bit darker than usual). I also need it to be able to wash out of clothing. The application is- a man crashed his car and hit his head and his head is bleeding.
Thank you

it all depends on the dye you use. The traditional 'blood' recipe in hollywood was karo syrup, red dye and a touch of yellow.

everything2.com lists the recipe for 'Kensington Gore' as:
2 cups of corn syrup (for viscosity and color)
1 cup of water (for balancing viscosity)
10 table spoons of maize flour (for making the blood less translucent)
10 tea spoons red food coloring (for color)
10 drops blue food coloring (for color)
A few drops concentrated mint (for taste - optional)

Again, ultimately the food coloring would determine the washability. GWAR claim to never use stage blood as it cakes on their costumes - but those can't be washed in a conventional machine.
